Simple Delicate Ornament Thinlits Christmas Card

Hello Everyone!

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been looking forward to trying out my newest Stampin’ Up supply!  Envelop paper!  Yes, Stampin’ Up has made special paper just for envelopes for Christmas…’s red!

Here’s how…….

Gather your supplies:

  • Real Red Envelope Paper #139604 (there are 20 sheets in a pack!)
  • Envelope Punchboard #133774
  • Red Foil Sheets #139607

Make the Envelope – Instructions are listed by steps on the front of the board.  Cut Envelope paper 81/8 x 8 1/8 and then place the edge of envelope paper at 3 3/4″ on the ruler at the top of the punchboard.  THIS IS THE ONLY TIME YOU LOOK AT RULER.  You will punch and score each turn of the paper.  ALIGN THE PAPER WITH THE PREVIOUS SCORE LINE EACH TIME AFTER THE FIRST SCORE.

Here’s what it will look like after you are finished punching and scoring.  I fold it up and use a pencil to mark and cut off the point on the bottom flap and then round the corner at the top flap.

Add adhesive only on the diagonal sides to close

To make the Red Foil insert for the envelope, cut the Red Foil for a 4 x 5 card….so cut Red Foil at 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches and follow the instructions for punching and scoring for the 4 x 5 card.

I cut the short sides off – save scrap Red Foil for some other project and then cut the remainder in half like this (I did this first on scrap paper)  NOW your have liners for 2 envelopes!

Adhere the rectangle part to the inside of the envelope first and then close the Red Foil pointed flap, apply Tombo and then close the envelope flap like so….

And you have a beautiful glimmering red envelope!

For the card, cut

  • 1 piece of Cherry Cobbler CS 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, plus a 3 1/2″ square scrap
  • 2 pieces of Very Vanilla CS 4″ x 5 1/4″  – one is for the inside and one is for the front
  • 1 strip of ornament DSP from Home for Christmas DSP #139692
  • 1 bow made with Gold 1/8″ Ribbon #134583
  • tiny scrap of Gold Foil paper #132622
  • 1 piece of Red Foil 3 1/2″ square #139607

Begin by embossing 1 of the pieces of Very Vanilla with Softly Falling Embossing folder #139672 and sponge lightly with Crumb Cake ink.  Also sponge the piece of ornament DSP with Crumb Cake ink

Next die cut the solid ornament framelit out of Cherry Cobbler CS and the ornament hanger out of Gold Foil paper.

imageFor the intricate thinlits, you will use the Red Foil paper.  For the best cut out of your Delicate Ornament Thinlits layer from bottom to top

  • Multipurpose Platform – completely closed
  • piece of Stampin’ Up cardstock scrap 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
  • Precision Base Plate  #139684  – this is a sturdy metal plate that keeps thinlit flat to release diecut
  • Red Foil
  • Ornament Thinlit
  • Cutting Pad

I use my Stampin’ Up paper snips to help release all the little pieces from the intricate design.

Now you are ready to assemble all together.  Use the NEW Fine-TipGlue Pen #138309 to adhere the Red Foil Ornament to the Cherry Cobbler ornament.  Remember to stamp a “Merry Christmas” greeting on your card too.

U Too Corner
