Birds and Branches

Lately, we’ve been amused at a new bird feeder my husband put up….

Here is a male and female house finch enjoying eating from the new feeder. The interesting part was when 2 baby squirrels decided to enjoy a meal too. The feeder is now in the back yard thanks to those squirrels.

So, I thought I would continue my exploration of Birds and Branches…..I am using it for club this month. Let’s see if I can make some house finches.

It’s almost a direct copy from our new annual catalog page 174. Here’s how….

  • begin by die cutting the branch image out of Whisper White card stock
  • then color it using your Stampin’ Blend markers. I used dark Soft Suede for branch (color in completely accurate in picture), leaves are light and dark Granny Apple Green and a touch of Old Olive
  • the “red berries” are Clear Epoxy Dropelets pg. 156 and colored with Light Cherry Cobbler

Next, using Seaside Spray ink, press the ink pad to the lid while closed to put some of the ink on to the inside of the lid. Use an Aquapainter with plenty of water to pick up some of the color and paint a piece of Whisper White card stock lightly

I then stamped “Hello” on to bottom right.

  • Whisper White CS measures 3 1/2 x 4 3/4
  • Matte is Misty Moonlight measuring 3 5/8 x 4 7/8

stamp the birds from Birds and Branches Bundle #154107 pg. 174 in Crumb Cake on Whisper White CS.

Now you can use your Stamping’ Blend alcohol markers to color them in …..whatever colors you want to use.

I thought I’d like to make my birds like the house finches…the male had deep red on his head and neck while the female is brown.

and then die cut

Now assemble…..

This is such a cute set of birds! How could be need more birds! gotta have the bird nest and there is a beautiful edge die and then there’s this circle die image you can use too with the birds…..just have fun!
